The mosaics depicting the “Amazonomachy” (Battle of the Amazons), the Abduction of Helen, and the Deer Hunt are especially noteworthy. Leave Pella and travel to Vergina. Learn about the city’s role as the one-time capital of the ancient Kingdom of Macedonia, and visit the museum highlighting artifacts from this historic civilization. You’ll see the royal tomb of King Philip the Second (father of Alexander the Great), and explore a variety of other gold relics. You’ll return to your Thessaloniki hotel at the end of the tour.
