The site of the sacrifice of the women of Naoussa in 1822
In the Holocaust of Naoussa in 1822, many women of the city preferred to fall with their children in the river of Arapitsa, rather than fall into the hands of the Turks. The city of Naoussa, according to a royal decree of 1955, has the title “heroic”. At the site of the women’s sacrifice, in the area of Stoubanoi next to the river of Arapitsa, there is the characteristic monument, with the statue of Naoussa Woman with the children in her arms.
The Giannakochori of Naoussa
Giannakochori, is located at a distance of about 6 kilometers from Naoussa (on the road that continues from the Holy Monastery of Timios Prodromos) and at an altitude of about 290 meters. Entering the village, on the main road, there is a small square in front of the village church. Opposite, there are taverns and cafes. The villagers are very hospitable. The Holy Monastery of Timios Prodromos, just outside Naoussa
The holy monastery of Timios Prodromos, is located just outside Naoussa on the road to Giannakochori and Rodochori (after Koukouli). The distance is about 3-4 km from Naoussa. The holy monastery of Timios Prodromos is a monument of the 19th century. In the center is a beautiful stone church, which in fact has two levels inside and to approach the sanctuary you have to go down a few stairs. The monastery was first built in the 7th century, but in the course of time it was destroyed many times, the last of which was in 1822 and, as the inscription at the entrance of the church states, was rebuilt in 1844. The church is surrounded by a courtyard with lots of greenery and flowers, while at the edge of the courtyard you can see the view to the plain. A few meters from the church, is the building where the nuns live.
The watermill of Naoussa
One of the most recent attractions of Naoussa, is the watermill (water wheel) near the church of Agios Georgios, at the entrance of the city. This attraction aims to give the visitor of Naoussa arriving in the city, a sample of the identity and tradition of the city, namely the water, the textile and the agricultural production of the place. A special feature of Naoussa is the existence of many fountains, scattered in neighborhoods, parks and squares. The familiar, in other cities, image of people with bottles of water in hand in Naoussa is very rare, even in summer. We do not know exactly how many there are in total, but they are certainly a few dozen and are located in many different parts of the city and in most of them the water is running.
Rodochori of Naoussa
Rodochori is a mountain village of Vermi, at an altitude of about 540 meters, in a green landscape. It is located at a distance of about 12 kilometers from Naoussa (on the road that continues from Giannakochori) and about 12 kilometers from the ski center at 3-5 Pigadia. The area is famous for the cherries and apples it produces.
The school of Aristotle in Nymphaeum of Mieza
The school of Aristotle in Naoussa is one of the most important sights of Naoussa and is located at a distance of about 2 kilometers from the city center, north of the community road that connects Naoussa with Kopanos. It is located next to the natural spring Kefalari, in Isvoria. The school was founded in Nymphaeum (a sanctuary dedicated to the Nymphs of the waters), near the city of Mieza.
In the school of Aristotle, Alexander the Great remained for about 2 years, between 343 and 340 BC, while later he moved to Pella as regent since his father Philip was absent in Perinthos and Byzantium.
Very close to the school of Aristotle, on the opposite side of the road, is today the Cultural Center of the school of Aristotle. This is a modern project, donated by the family of Christos Lanaras and belongs to the municipality of Naoussa. In the facilities of the cultural center there are available: Reception and guest service area, Coffee Place and Restaurant, Small Showroom (80 seats conference / movie / video room)
The visitor of the cultural center can be informed about the history of the Aristotle school and the archeological site, through the available audiovisual material.

The ski center 3-5 Pigadia, is located at a distance of about 17 km from Naoussa and about 15 km from Agios Nikolaos. It occupies an area which starts at an altitude of 1430 meters and reaches an altitude of 2005 meters. It is a modern ski resort with slopes for every degree of difficulty.
