Description
Sithonia Peninsula of Halkidiki, Private Round Tour
SITHONIA PENINSULA
Sithonia can only be described as the best of Halkidiki – a peninsula located in Northern Greece. With almost 100 beaches, most of them having perfect white sand and some of the clearest waters in the world, Sithonia is a destination you will want to keep on your bucket list.
TOP TEN
The 10 best beaches in Sithonia can also be considered as Halkidiki’s top beaches. Sithonia beaches are favorites to tourists who come to Halkidiki since they have perfect white sand, crystal clear turquoise water and they are generally not over developed or crowded. While many Halkidiki beaches may look the same, Sithonia beaches are often unique in their own way.
When you are faced with almost 100 fabulous beaches, how do you narrow down the list to the 10 top beaches? Not easy we admit. We looked at different criteria since everybody has different needs. The best beach for you may not be the best beach for everybody. We took into consideration the following … what would: appeal to families with children, allow for good water sports, is well organized, is unorganized and quiet, even isolated, and how popular is the beach. We also used the “wow” factor, meaning, what beach upon first seeing it gives you the feeling of… “Wow! I just want to be there!”
Karidi Beach | Trani Ammouda Beach | Paradise Beach (Kavourotripes) | Sarti beach | Kalamitsi beach | Tigania Beach | Armenistis beach | Kriaritsi beach | Kalogria beach | Lagomandra beach

Highlights
- Diaporos Island
Diaporos island is right across Vourvourou village in the Sithonia peninsula. The bay is deep enough for large yachts and the natural beauty of the location is astonishing. With a few adorable houses here and there, it’s a place worth exploring and is ideal for a picnic. There are many reefs where one can snorkel in the crystal clear water. Diaporos belongs to a complex of islets together with Kalogria, Ambelitsi, Kalamonisia (3), Prassonisi, Peristera, Agios Isodoros. One can reach them by renting a private boat (no license needed) or paddle your own canoe to explore the several secluded coves surrounded by pine trees and sandy beaches. - Old Village of Nikiti
If you are looking for something off the beaten track, then this is the place for you!
And if it is peace and quiet you’re after, take to the hills for a visit to the Old town of Nikiti, a lovely traditional village that retains an air of romantic nostalgia by being quaint without being too schmaltzy, featuring stone Macedonian houses with blossom-filled balconies and courtyards.
The old village Nikiti is a charming traditional settlement just across the road from the new part. Here, walking on narrow paved small streets, you can admire the beautiful, restored, stone houses, with the internal courtyard, laid out by a stone tile and with wooden balconies with flowers. It is possible to walk to St. Nikita’s stone church and then to go down on the area with the big maple and to sit in a tavern, enjoying traditional cuisine. - Parthenonas village
Parthenonas is a historical village built on the slopes of Mt. Itamos (Dragoudelis), the main mountain of Sithonia at the altitude of 350 meters with beautifully preserved houses of Macedonian architecture that distinguished for their authentic and traditional character.
Parthenonas has been abandoned by 1970 as locals moved into Neos Marmaras. Recently, the village has acquired a new lease of life as many old houses have been restored, preserving the original character of the village, but there are still a few guesthouses, tavernas and a café-bar. The village’s cultural association, the Parthenon, founded in 1985 has established the principle to preserve the local customs and traditions, ensuring the safety of traditional architectural style.Worth to see: The Folklore Museum of Parthenonas recently opened its door to guests and offers an interesting collection of folklore items and the distiller of the village that brews the local brandy, tsipouro, a Greek spirit.
An annual one-day event, “the crossing of Dragoudeli” where local people and tourists are walking and riding through Mt. Itamos only to end up in the village where participants are given local treats and tsipouro.
