We’ll cross the Greece–North Macedonia border (Evzoni / Bogorodica) and continue on the highway toward Skopje and then to Matka Canyon.

11:30 Arrive at Matka Canyon (North Macedonia)

Matka Canyon is one of the most spectacular natural landscapes near Skopje — a deep rocky canyon cut by the Treska River with emerald waters and cliffs rising on both sides. Vrelo Cave in Matka Canyon located on the right bank of the Treska River, Vrelo Cave was listed as one of the top 77 natural sites in the world in the New 7 Wonders of Nature project.

Boat Trip & Vrelo Cave
Activity: Ride a boat across Lake Matka — the usual way to reach Vrelo Cave since the cave isn’t directly reachable on foot from the main area.
Duration: 1 hour round-trip tour including reaching the cave and exploring a bit.
Scenery: Towering canyon walls, green water, reflections, and a peaceful natural setting.
Vrelo Cave: Famous for its stalactites, stalagmites and deep underwater system, one of the most notable natural features in the canyon.

Optional extra: If you enjoy kayaking, you could rent kayaks and paddle part of the lake before or after the cave boat trip (but this adds time).

14:00 – 15:00: Relax & Lunch by the Lake

After the boat ride:
• Enjoy a lakeside coffee or light lunch.
• Walk along short nature paths by the water.
• Relax and soak in the views of cliff faces and calm lake surface.
• This is your best opportunity to enjoy the scenic environment and take photos.

15:00 – 18:30: Drive Back to Thessaloniki

You’ll retrace your route across the border and back to Thessaloniki, ending the trip in the late afternoon / early evening.
